Topics include Queuing Theory, Simulation and Linear Programming. These techniques are used in the optimal allocation of existing resources and provide useful information on the potential worth of additional resources.

Data-Driven Operations
This module develops students¿ ability to apply statistical models and analytical techniques directly to operational challenges, fostering a solid understanding of how data-driven insights can inform and test operational theory in practice. Through hands-on modelling and analysis, students learn to interpret business data, build spreadsheet-based tools, and use quantitative and qualitative methods to explore real-world operational scenarios within a complex, diverse and global business context. They will draw on real-world cases from a range of sectors and geographic regions rather than relying on culturally specific examples
Students are introduced to the core principles of Operations Management, including the design, planning, and control of processes, resources, and people. Topics such as scheduling, forecasting, inventory management, and capacity planning are explored as dynamic systems to demonstrate the relationship between theory, data and decision-making.
By integrating statistical competence with operational strategy, students gain a comprehensive toolkit for solving complex business problems across manufacturing, service, public sector, and non-profit organisations. The module encourages critical thinking about sustainability and ethics by modelling trade-offs in carbon, discussing the concepts of waste and resource scarcity and EDI in operations.
The role of new technologies, including AI-enabled optimisation, are evaluated for their potential to enhance or disrupt operational performance, equipping students to lead in data-rich, fast-changing environments.
This module provides the essential foundation for more advanced study at Levels 5 and 6 in the areas of operations management and analytics.

Managing Supply Chains and Projects
This module explores how organisations design, manage, and improve operations through the dual lenses of supply chain management and project management. Students will develop a critical understanding of how supply chains create value through strategic purchasing, supplier development, logistics, technology, and sustainable sourcing. They will examine real-world challenges in managing global, service, and public supply chains, with emphasis on building resilience and ethical practice.
Alongside this, students will gain practical skills in project and operations management, learning how structured approaches can deliver change across complex networks. Key areas include project lifecycles, planning and scheduling, resource management, and the application of core operations principles such as forecasting, capacity planning, and process design. Agile and lean project delivery approaches are also introduced, equipping students to adapt to dynamic operational environments.
By integrating supply chain strategy with project and operations tools, the module prepares students to tackle practical workplace challenges, manage change initiatives, and contribute effectively to operational performance and transformation.

Sustainable Operations Management
Operations Management is concerned with the scoping, design, planning, directing, and controlling of facilities, processes, and people in order to transform resources into products and services. It provides the foundation for delivering value effectively and efficiently across all types of organisations (from private manufacturing firms to service-based companies, public sector bodies, and not-for-profit enterprises). This module develops the skills and knowledge required to manage operations in a global and socially responsible context. Learners will explore the principles of scheduling and process design, production and capacity planning, forecasting, and inventory management, while also critically examining how these decisions intersect with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Leading and Managing Projects
This module is a Project Management module designed for students to apply across a range of industries including health, finance, construction and logistics. The module will provide an in-depth understanding of key Project Management practices in addition to useful frameworks. The module syllabus is aligned to the APM Body of Knowledge. This prepares students for the APM certification, if they wish to pursue this independently upon graduation. Taught content will be supported by guest lectures from industry professionals where appropriate. This will support students in identifying practical applications of academic theory.
