Steve yw Pennaeth Menter ac Arloesi sy'n arwain gweithgareddau arloesi yn yr Ysgol Feddygaeth, a gyda sefydliadau allanol gan gynnwys busnesau a GIG Cymru.

Mae'n aelod o fwrdd rhaglenni ar ddwy fenter genedlaethol ar feddygaeth fanwl: Therapïau Datblygedig Cymru a Phartneriaethau Genomau Cymru, lle mae'n cadeirio'r ffrwd waith Ymchwil ac Arloesi. Mae'n aelod o adran weithredol Canolfan Ymchwil Canser Cymru, gan arwain y thema Diwydiant ac Arloesi.

Roedd Steve yn un o gyfarwyddwyr sefydlu’r Ganolfan NanoIechyd ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe, cyfleuster ymchwil a datblygu rhyngddisgyblaethol sy’n darparu datblygiadau mewn nanofeddygaeth. Mae bellach yn Gyfarwyddwr Strategol y Rhwydwaith Geltaidd Arloesi Celtaidd Gwyddorau Bywyd Uwch [CALIN], prosiect INTERREG Iwerddon-Cymru sy'n adeiladu pont arloesi gwyddorau bywyd rhwng Cymru (Bangor, Caerdydd, Abertawe) ac Iwerddon (Cork, Dulyn, Galway).

Mae Steve yn Athro Bioleg Foleciwlaidd a Chelloedd, sy'n arwain y grŵp ymchwil bywiog Bioleg Atgenhedlu ac Oncoleg Gynaecolegol.

Mae ei ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar gymhwyso bioleg foleciwlaidd, bioleg celloedd a nano-fioleg i ddeall patholegau gynaecolegol gan gynnwys canser ac anffrwythlondeb. Ar hyn o bryd mae'n gweithio ar brosesau trawsysgrifio a chlefyd epigenynnol, ac ar ddatblygu therapiwteg ddatblygedig; Cyfieuau Cyffuriau Gwrth-gyrff (datblygiad cyn-glinigol), ecsosomau a systemau darparu nanoronynnau.

Mae Steve yn Gymrawd y Gymdeithas Fioleg Frenhinol (FRSB), ac yn un o Ymddiriedolwyr Cymdeithas Nanofeddygaeth Prydain. PM-344 Capstone Project

The aim of this module is to provide a capstone experience to students¿ learning, through participating in their own enquiry-based research project, with guidance from an academic supervisor. The project may be laboratory or non-laboratory based, but it will always involve a research question that is drawn from the literature, and focused on a topic relevant to the life sciences. It will ask a research question and involve the critical analysis of research findings. Students will refine their oral and written communication skills to a graduate level through an oral presentation and dissertation on their research findings and conclusions.
PMNM11 Nanomedicines, pharmaceuticals and advanced therapeutics

This module will explore the history and development of molecular medicines and pharmaceuticals, providing the basis for an advanced understanding of next generation therapeutic approaches. Using landmark technology and chemical development phases informed by separation science and mass spectrometry, the module uses an application driven approach to provide the student with an extensive knowledgebase of drug development, the pharmaceutical industry and nanotherapeutics. Students will be able to characterize and map the path of a drug from administration, to metabolism and elimination, and critically evaluate drug design and delivery approaches. Traditional small chemical entities used in molecular medicine will be outlined, using drugs such as taxols and tamoxifen as exemplars. Common target oncology and non-oncology disorders will provide the context; with students encouraged to explore targeted nanoparticle fabrication, drug encapsulation and release profiling, from early first generation drugs such as Abraxane to second generation biologically targeted SMART delivery systems. Future molecular medicines such as antibody drug conjugates and kinase inhibitors will be taught by guest lectures from industry and clinicians, covering the spectrum of drug development to delivery and clinical considerations.

In this module, students will focus on the broader definition of health, advanced therapies and the complexities of patient care. The module will continue to build on the foundational-science-based knowledge and clinical skills developed in Years 1 to 3, and will delve deeper into population health, future medicines, and complex clinical scenarios. This module encourages further development of transferable skills and application of prior knowledge into progressively complex scenarios. SHN2030S Ensuring Quality Care (Adult)

This module prepares you to take an active role in the organisation, management, and delivery of safe, high-quality care across all four fields of nursing. SHNM32 Care of the Person with Complex Needs (Adult)

This module will develop your knowledge, clinical reasoning, and decision-making skills allowing you to safely assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adults with complex and co-morbid healthcare needs across a range of healthcare settings. You¿ll explore the multifaceted nature of complexity in healthcare, including the physical, psychological, social, and cultural factors that influence patient outcomes, and examine how evidence-based practice supports the delivery of safe, person-centred care. You will critically explore clinical judgement, prioritisation, risk assessment, medicines management, partnership working, and leadership when caring for individuals with complex healthcare needs. The module will integrate your theoretical knowledge with practice learning and simulation-based education to support development of your advanced clinical decision-making, adaptability, and professional accountability within multidisciplinary healthcare environments. Learning is delivered through a blended approach incorporating lectures, simulation, skills-based teaching, collaborative learning, and practice placements. This integrated learning experience supports you to apply evidence-based care to real-world clinical situations, developing your professional confidence, and preparing you for the safe management of complex patient care within contemporary healthcare systems.
