Fundamentals of Community Practice
This module frontloads the Specialist Practice Qualification in District Nursing (SPDN) and provides an overview of current issues which are relevant to those working in all areas of community nursing.
There are four themes incorporated in the module where each theme has a theoretical and clinical outcome.
The themes are:
Community as the Context of Care,
Professional Role and Accountability,
Clinical Practice in the community,
The Family (sociological and psychological perspectives).
A practice supervisor (PS), practice assessor (PA) and academic assessor (AA) are required to support the student through the practice component. There must be an up-to-date educational audit available within the practice setting.

Physical Health Issues in Adult Mental Health Practice
The aim of the module is to equip health and social care professionals to respond to the physical health needs of adults with mental health problems, as this client group has high levels of morbidity and mortality. The module aims to better equip staff to work between primary and secondary care to ensure that the range of health needs are met. During the module there will be opportunities for staff to develop physical healthcare assessment skills and engage in health promotion strategies.

Introduction to nursing and health care (Mental Health)
This module will introduce students to the profession of nursing, its core concepts and its underpinning values as enshrined in the NMC¿s Code. The module aims to develop the student¿s knowledge of the empirical, ethical, personal, socio-political and aesthetic dimensions of nursing. It aims to enable the student to understand the nurse¿s role in providing safe and effective nursing care across the lifespan and all four fields of nursing which is underpinned by professional attitudes and evidence, promoting partnership working with service users and their carers. This module will also introduce the student to learning in higher education.

Care of the Service User with Complex Needs (Mental Health)
This module aims to prepare students to care and systematically manage complex care situations, demonstrating creativity, adaptability and the prioritisation of clinical decision making whilst working within their scope of practice and across all four fields of nursing practice, across community, hospital or any healthcare setting.

Students will consider professional practice in relation to professional, socio-political, legal and ethical issues. The module enables the student to integrate the learning from theory and practice gained over the course of the programme in order to meet the Future Nurse: standards of proficiency for registered nurses (NMC, 2018) to enable the transition from student to registered nurse.

Fundamentals of Community Practice
This module frontloads the MSc Specialist Practice District Nursing (SPDN) programme, providing an overview of current issues which are relevant to those working in all areas of community nursing. It is an All Wales module developed through collaboration with the commissioners' and Higher Education Institutes across Wales.
There are four themes incorporated in the module where each theme has a theoretical and clinical outcome.

Clinical Practice in the community,
The Family (sociological and psychological perspectives).
A practice supervisor (PS), practice assessor (PA) and academic assessor (AA) will support each student in a practice setting that has undergone an educational audit.

Acute and Unscheduled Nursing Care (Mental Health)
The Acute and Unscheduled Nursing Care module will enable students to develop the knowledge, skills and professional values required to assess and manage complex care in acute and unscheduled situations. A range of blended-learning teaching methods will be used to develop knowledge and skills in managing complex care needs, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, appraising best evidence for nursing practice and the comprehensive and systematic assessment of patients with acute, complex needs. Student learning will be supported with online digital learning resources through Canvas.
