About

Dr Balaussa Azubayeva is a Lecturer in Marketing at Swansea University’s School of Management and Co-Programme Director for the BSc Marketing programme. She holds a PhD in Business from Swansea University since 2023 and has an academic and professional background spanning marketing, management, entrepreneurship and education.

Her research interests include consumer behaviour, neuromarketing, artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) in higher education, education inequality and social mobility. Balaussa teaches undergraduate and postgraduate marketing modules, and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. In 2026, she received a Learning and Teaching Excellence Award from Swansea University.

Before academia, Balaussa worked in marketing and management in the international fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, where she held roles in brand management, planning and new product development. She also has entrepreneurial experience, having founded and managed an early-years education business.

Balaussa is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Chartered Marketer. She holds a Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). She was a Chevening Scholar and holds an MA in Childhood Studies from Swansea University.
