After 16 years working in development economics and offshore finance in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, Alan returned home to Wales to become part of the founder team of Cardiff Aviation Ltd – an aircraft maintenance, training and flight operations company based in Wales. This led him to pursue a PhD in the field of Aviation Economics at Swansea University’s School of Management and then into full academia.
As a member of the Strategic Operations and Business Analytics subject group, Alan’s career prior to this has enabled him to offer an insight into actual organisational practices in the fields of Management Consulting, Supply Chain Management, Lean Operations and Operations Management. Having worked on projects for diverse institutions such as the UNDP’s Millennium Development Goals, World Bank and various Governments, Alan also lectures in Development Economics and African Economies. He is currently Programme Director of the FdSc/BSc in Applied Business Mangement, a collaboration between Swansea University, Coleg Cambria and various industry partners such as Airbus, for example, who provide apprentices to the business management degree.
In addition, Alan was a guest lecturer on Cardiff University’s Executive MBA programme for three consecutive years.
Alan has an extensive global network and often offers non-executive director or management consulting support to firms around the globe.
