Get ACTIVE

Get ACTIVE is Swansea University Sport's programme of fun, accessible physical activities for students and staff. It offers regular on-campus sessions, outdoor activities, pop-ups, tasters, challenges and special events throughout the year.

Get ACTIVE is open to current Swansea University students of all levels and abilities.

No. Get ACTIVE is designed for all abilities, including complete beginners. You do not need to belong to a sports club or have previous experience to take part in our sessions - everyone is welcome.

Yes. You will need to register for Get ACTIVE before you can book onto a session. Registration is free and the online form should only take a few minutes to complete. You only need to register once. Students should already have a Students’ Union account, so registering should be simple.  You should use your student email address. Over on the Students' Union website you just need to add ‘Student Registration’ to your basket and head to checkout, answer a few simple questions and confirm.  You’ll receive confirmation and you’ll be all set to go. Head over to the students' union website and follow the instructions to register. 

Once you've registered, you can browse the latest programme and book available sessions through the Students’ Union website.

Most on campus Get ACTIVE sessions that are part of our Core Timetable are free. Get OUTDOORS sessions or those delivered by specialist coaches or external activity providers may have a small charge, but these are usually subsidised.

Any cost will be clearly shown when you book your event ticket via the Students Union website. 

Our Core Timetable offers sessions at both the Bay and Singleton campuses. Our outdoor programme runs special events in the local area in Swansea, Gower and further afield. Full session details, including whether transport is provided, will be included in the event description on the Students' Union website. 

Get ACTIVE runs an extensive programme of physical activities based around the needs of our students. The core programme usually includes activities such as badminton and volleyball, cricket and yoga.

Get OUTDOORS offers a wide range of activities including:

• Walk and hikes
• Social running groups 
• Gorge walking
• Kayak/canoe
• Surfing/stand-up paddleboarding
• Climbing/bouldering
• Windsurfing
• Underwater hockey
• Alpaca walking

Equipment is provided for many activities. The booking information for each session will explain what is included and whether you need to bring any clothing or equipment of your own.

Student Activators help deliver activities, welcome participants, promote sessions and create social media content.

Roles are usually recruited during the spring and are open to Swansea University undergraduate and postgraduate students. You do not need to belong to a sports club, but you should be enthusiastic about helping other people become more active. Activators are expected to be able to deliver between 1-3 hours of activity per week

Activator positions are paid and provide valuable experience in communication, leadership, teamwork and event delivery.
