Students will be required to undertake a minimum of 3 clinical days away from their practice base ideally placed with a wound care specialist.

Tissue Viability
This module aims to further develop the knowledge and skills of health care professionals who are involved in the care and management of patients with wounds, including pressure ulcers and leg ulcers. The module will also develop knowledge and skills to assess and prevent tissue damage, maintain skin integrity and reduce risk. As the module is composite and requires elements of practical skills to meet current need students will be required to undertake a minimum of 4 clinical days away from their practice base ideally placed with a wound care specialist or clinic relevant to their field and learning needs. The module is 13 weeks in duration, therefore will be split into 9 theory weeks and 4 clinical days.

It will allow the practitioner to apply their understanding of the complexities of ageing in order to make an effective contribution to the delivery of an improved service which better meets the needs of the older person.

Development encompasses both personal and professional aspects as one cannot be separated from the other.
This module draws on the content of other modules within the year and experiences in practice to introduce the concept of professional practice. The students will demonstrate this learning through the medium of a portfolio and by producing a patchwork text.
