About

Paul is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director at the School of Management. He joined the University after a successful career in industry spanning 20 years where he worked at senior and executive levels in software, super-technology and wider business consultancy.

Paul has an active, inclusive approach to teaching blending contemporary theory with practice promoting tangible skills development and employability at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has created and continues to develop modules in exciting contemporary areas relating to digital and management. Passionate about teaching, he was recently double nominated for best teacher and best new module within the university.

Teaching Interests

At undergraduate Paul teaches marketing, social marketing, application development, digital marketing and strategic sales management. He is an advocate of authentic assessment and active pedagogy in all areas of his teaching and helping students really prepare for future careers in management.

At post-graduate Paul is the Programme Director for the school’s growing specialist marketing MSc, he also teaches Digital Marketing to the wider post-grad community and supervises dissertations.

Research

Paul’s areas of research include organisational digital transition, technology acceptance and the effect of pedagogical interventions that promote longitudinal employability (i.e. exploring the link between how subjects are taught and their impact on career management paths). Paul has spoken at a number of major conferences including the HEA annual conference and Chartered Association of Business Schools. His work on the development of learning environments was recently featured as part of a cross-collaboration with colleagues in the JISC annual review (2019). Related to his research he also runs a joint venture company with Swansea University – Digital Academic Solutions Limited – the business focuses on bringing the benefits of new technologies (AI, media development) to the higher education area.
