EG-304 Safety and Loss Prevention
This module aims to provide a basic knowledge of the technical issues underlying safety and loss prevention on process plant, introducing risk and hazard assessment together with the legal framework of obligations for organizations and individuals.

EGC401 Industrial Engineering and Research Practice
This module provides students with sustained, hands-on experience in either an industrial or research environment, undertaken over two days per week across both Teaching Block 1 and Teaching Block 2. The placement enables students to apply and extend their chemical and process engineering knowledge in professional practice. Industrial placements offer exposure to real-world process operations, management structures, and problem-solving within an engineering context, while research placements provide experience in experimental design, data analysis, and project management within one of the University¿s research groups. Both pathways are designed to strengthen students¿ technical competence, professional conduct, and transferable skills in communication, teamwork, and time management. Placements are arranged in consultation with academic and technical staff or by interview with participating companies, and students are expected to maintain professional standards and safe working practices throughout.
