On your first day you will need to access some services on campus, such as obtaining your Staff ID card.  This section contains information to help you when you begin your employment at Swansea University.

What you need to know

Staff ID Cards

For the purpose of security, all University employees are issued with a Staff ID card. Your card will be issued to you by Library & Information Centre (no.7 on the Singleton Park Campus map, no.5 on the Bay Campus map).

Please report to the Issue Desk in the Library & Information Centre between 10.00 – 12.00 and 14.00 – 16.00 Monday - Friday. You should take your appointment letter and a form of photographic I.D. along with you as means as identification.

To gain Staff Card access to your relevant buildings and car park barriers, please email cardaccess@swansea.ac.uk or take your ID card to the Estates and Facilities Reception:
Singleton Campus: Ground floor, Fulton House
Bay Campus: First floor, Nanhyfer building

Car Parking and Travel

If you would like to park on campus, you need to obtain a car parking permit from the Estates and Facilities Reception. 

You can also speak to the Estates reception to gain more details on obtaining a parking permit, car sharing and staff bus pass schemes. 


You will automatically be included in the Swansea University pension scheme on commencing employment with the University.  If you would rather be omitted from the scheme, please contact Jane Hurford, Superannuation Officer on extension 5353 to discuss this and all other pension-related matters.

Your Swansea University Email Address

Your line manager should arrange for your email address to be set up. If you have any questions about your your email address, please speak to your line manager in the first instance.  Alternatively, you can speak to the IT Support team in the Library & Information Centre.
