As a new member of staff you will probably be on a probation period.  This is to provide you with a supportive framework whilst you settle into your new role.

The probationary period will enable you to develop capability and competence for your post, while identifying your training needs, consistent with your College/Directorate’s strategic aims and values.  The University has three types of Probation Procedure and the duration of your probation period will have been specified in your appointment letter. All probation periods have a phase whereby targets are set and agreed followed by two or three formal reviews to evaluate your progress.

This process will ensure that you are given every opportunity to maximise your potential when you begin your new role at the University.
