About

Gareth joined the School of Law in March 2020. He holds an LLB and PhD in Law from Aberystwyth University. His doctorate was awarded in 2019 in the area of constitutional theory applied to the devolution process in the United Kingdom.

Gareth’s main research interests lie in public law and political history. His current research focusses on constitutional matters relating to the Welsh devolution settlement and includes projects on minority government in Wales and Welsh law. His earlier work includes papers on Welsh constitutional history, UK public law, and the dynamics of the UK's territorial constitution during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He has been the recipient of research grant funding from the Society of Legal Scholars, and held the Drew Scholarship at Gladstone's Library in 2023.

At the School of Law, Gareth is module leader for LAA362 Canadian Constitutional Law and LAA395 The Law of Devolution in Wales. He also leads lectures on the England & Wales Legal System for LAA130 Law, Professionalism and Ethics.

Gareth has been the Admissions Tutor for law undergraduate programmes since 2021.
