About

I am Director of Postgraduate Studies for Politics and International Relations, and also director of the Social Policy degree programme.  I lecture mainly on social justice, children and the family, and political and social theory.  My research has involved the application of political and social theory to a range of areas, currently childhood, co-production and aspects of social welfare.  I am author or editor of 10 books – most recently The Routledge Handbook of the Philosophy of Childhood and Chilldren – as well as over 60 articles and chapters.  I co-edit the journal Ethics and Social Welfare, having previously edited Res Publica and have acted as a reviewer for over 40 different academic journals.  I am a member of the Executive Committee of the Social Policy Association, a fellow of the RSA, and Chair of the Newport Fairness Commission.
