About
Leonie’s research interests lie in sexual abuse, sexual offending, offending behaviours and psychopathy, especially the dark triad. Within her past research she has worked closely with other departments across the university such as the School of Management and the School of Culture and Communications.
Leonie holds a MSc in Abnormal and Clinical Psychology with her dissertation focusing on sadism and enjoys bridging disciplines within her research, such as psychology and criminology as well as criminology and linguistics.
Leonie’s work closely focuses on safeguarding children and young people and she has been involved in projects aimed at supporting the creation of safeguarding frameworks in education. Furthermore, she has researched into the language use within the sphere of online sexual abuse.
Leonie’s most recent research focuses on the working realities of professionals who work with female sexual offenders and their victims within the criminal justice system.
