Advanced Management (Health Innovation and Transformation), MSc

You will study a range of modules, before undertaking an independent project/dissertation in your final semester.

The programme is based on the interaction between theory and practice and will provide you with a critical appreciation of transformational challenges in a health and care context.

Modules typically include: Exploring Organisational Purpose, Navigating Innovation & Change, Prudent Health and Care Innovation, Complex Health & Care, People & Systems and Research in a Health & Care Context.

Students must attain 2:1 (or overseas equivalent) in an undergraduate degree and any degree subject will be considered. We would also be willing to consider those with other backgrounds and work experience in the sector, in place of the degree entry requirement.

Students must also have a minimum of one year relevant work experience. (Additional experience may be required to access the WG funded bursaries on the programme). 

Non-native speakers must achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 or greater with no component less than 6.0. If you have studied an undergraduate degree taught through the medium of English, you may be exempt from this requirement – click here for further information.

For students who fall short of only the English language requirement, we offer a range of Pre-Master's training programmes that you may take before starting your Master's qualification.

Our Advanced Management programme is a flexible and innovative degree that uses a variety of teaching methods, in the main through weekly lectures and seminars and developed by experts and practitioners in the health, care and voluntary sectors.

From the start of your degree, you will be immersed in our cutting-edge research and industry-led teaching, having every opportunity to develop key transferable skills whilst meeting the learning outcomes set out in the module syllabus.

In addition to traditional lectures, there will be self-directed learning, workshops, group discussions, team exercises, learner led presentations and state-of-the-art content (asynchronous lectures and master-classes), virtual seminars contextualising industrial applications, face-to-face workshops and networking opportunities with external stakeholders.

This course consists of six modules and is taught in a ‘blended’ way. This means that most teaching will be done online with Part-Time (with a face to face workshop per module) and mainly face to face lectures and seminars on Full-Time based on campus.

The course assessment is designed to equip professionals with skills and knowledge to exploit innovation and transformational change within the context of their organisations. Each module includes sector specific challenges aimed at developing the participants ability to implement innovation management theories in practice. This includes submitting an assignment per module, and a research report project.

No Provision

Unfortunately, there is currently no formal Welsh-medium provision on this course.
