About
Phatsi has taught Criminology at undergraduate level since 2016, and is an Associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Phatsi began her studies in Swansea University in 2009, when she enrolled on a Psychology degree. It was during these three years that her passion for Criminology was developed; through an elective Introduction to Criminology module which inspired her to apply to study Criminology and Criminal Justice at Master's level.
Phatsi continued to focus on building her experience within the Criminology field through volunteer work as a Referral Order Panel Member for the Youth Offending Service. This experience helped to develop Phatsi's keen interest in Youth Justice matters, and she began to work towards a Ph.D in the Criminology Department at Swansea University. Phatsi's research, influenced by the young people she has worked with over the years, focuses on rights and responsibilities of children and young people; empirical work that has children’s participation at its core.
