Advanced Management (Health Innovation and Transformation), MSc / PGDip / PGCert

You will learn within a vibrant interdisciplinary community through the All‑Wales Intensive Learning Academy (ILA) for Innovation in Health and Social Care. The programme blends academic theory with applied, practice‑based learning, helping you connect what you study directly to your professional experience and real‑world system challenges.

The programme is delivered part‑time over two years, giving you the flexibility to balance your studies with professional and personal commitments. In year one, you will complete core modules that establish strong foundations in management and leadership. In year two, you will progress to specialist modules focused on health and care innovation and transformation, before undertaking your capstone research project. This structure supports applied learning throughout and ensures that your studies stay closely aligned with real‑world health system priorities and employer needs.

Your learning is supported through a mix of asynchronous lectures, online seminars, in‑person workshops, case studies and live projects drawn from global and sectoral contexts. You’ll also learn from guest speakers and industry experts, and connect with the Innovation Academy’s growing alumni community.

Research‑led teaching is embedded throughout the programme. You will engage with current research, contribute to evaluation activities with ILA partners, and complete assessments that mirror real‑world processes such as data interpretation, evidence‑based decision‑making and reflective critique.

Inclusive and active learning strategies sit at the heart of the teaching approach. You will take part in problem‑based learning, group discussions and collaborative inquiry, with opportunities to choose assessment formats that best suit your strengths. Digital materials are designed to be accessible and released in advance, supporting different learning needs and styles.

This blend of flexible, applied and inclusive learning ensures that you can engage meaningfully with the programme, and develop the confidence, agility and ethical awareness needed for leadership in complex health and care environments.

No Provision

Unfortunately, there is currently no formal Welsh-medium provision on this course. If you would like to let us know that you are interested in pursuing an element of your course through the medium of Welsh, please email astudio@abertawe.ac.uk to indicate your interest along with your year of entry and we will do our best to see what is possible.

Whilst this course does not offer academic content delivered in Welsh, the University can provide you with the following, and Academi Hywel Teifi is here to support you:

• An interview through the medium of Welsh when applying for a place.
• The option to receive your personal correspondence in Welsh, English or bilingually.
• The option to write and submit your coursework or exams through the medium of Welsh (even if you have chosen to study in English), and your work will be marked in Welsh.
• A Welsh-speaking Personal Tutor.
• One-to-one support through the medium of Welsh to improve your academic skills.
• An opportunity to gain an additional free qualification that serves as evidence of your Welsh language ability for future employers, namely the WJEC and Coleg Cymraeg's Welsh Language Certificate.
• Opportunity to be a member of the Swansea University Branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.

MSc Advanced Management (Health Innovation and Transformation) at Swansea University is awarded by 25 CPD credits by the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management and 50 CPD points by The CPD Standards Office. Graduates are also able to apply for Chartered Manager status via the CMI fast track process.
