Course Overview

The BA Cymraeg, Cyfryngau a Chysylltiadau Cyhoeddus offers a unique opportunity to study Welsh alongside media and public relations theory and practice. This interdisciplinary programme meets the demands of a rapidly evolving bilingual communications landscape while celebrating the richness of Welsh language and culture in a global context.

You will explore principles and practices of PR, media and film, gaining critical insight and practical experience. The course combines theory with hands-on learning, giving you opportunities to create content and develop ideas each year. You’ll engage with tools shaping modern PR – influencer marketing, content creation, social media analytics, ethical practice and social responsibility – while building skills to manage online reputation and lead digital campaigns.

The Cymraeg component offers a fresh approach to language, literature and society, structured around three themes: Creativity, Employability and Welsh in Society. You will also consider Welsh in an international context, encouraging reflection on multiculturalism, linguistic diversity and the role of Welsh in a changing world.

Career-focused modules and real-world projects prepare you for bilingual working environments and careers in creative industries, PR, education, publishing, broadcasting and public services. Small-group teaching and personalised support create a strong sense of community.

You will graduate as an adaptable, reflective practitioner – fluent in Welsh, media literate and ready to create compelling content across digital platforms.

Enhance your experience with a Year Abroad or Year in Industry. Spend time studying overseas or gain paid workplace experience (average salary over £20,000), boosting your skills and employability.
