This approach enables you to engage with and review content at your own pace while benefiting from the structure and support of in-person teaching. 

N.B If you are an international student studying with a Student Route Visa, please note that your timetabled activity, along with any additional supervisory activity (with Swansea University staff present) will take place on campus. In line with UKVI protocol, these sessions will be monitored and data made available on request.

There are opportunities for Welsh speakers to study some elements of this course through the medium of Welsh but there is not yet enough provision to reach 40 credits in each year*.

The Stackpole residential field course introduces students taking the “Principles of Environmental Dynamics” to some of the major themes of the module: environmental systems, sea-level change and human impact on the environment, in a congenial setting in Pembrokeshire. The environmental issues facing the Stackpole Estate are discussed and placed into a historical perspective through lectures and the analysis of long term environmental records.

Hi, my name is Ellaline Luzby, and I graduated from Swansea University with a Master’s degree in Environmental Dynamics and Climate Change in 2024. Out of the six modules I studied, I enjoyed Climate Change – Past, Present and Future and Geographical Information Systems the most. My dissertation focused on using LiDAR and photogrammetry to estimate above-ground biomass in juvenile trees. The knowledge I gained provided me with the skills necessary for my current role as a Graduate GIS Consultant at Esri UK. As part of my job, I rotate around various departments within the company, learning about the organisation from many different angles and utilising my GIS skills.
