Fully Funded Degree

Choosing to follow your passion for science or technology could pay. Our full range of Healthcare Sciences Degrees are fully funded via the NHS Wales Bursary Scheme. 

What this could mean for you is, if you commit to working for NHS Wales for a period after you graduate your tuition will be fully covered by the NHS Wales Bursary, as well as maintenance funding of up to £4,491 and a reduced rate loan from Student Finance.

Audiology

Our Audiology degree will give you a full and holistic understanding of how to assess hearing capacity and balance function using the latest diagnostic equipment and software applications. Throughout your course you will observe clinics in our purpose built Health and Wellbeing Academy gain experience in commercial settings and build your skills and confidence in clinical work placements at hospitals.

Cardiac Physiology

Our Cardiac Physiology Degree will give you a full and holistic understanding anatomy and physiology of the heart, together with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. You will also benefit from a real-life patient setting in our award winning Health and Wellbeing Academy, an on-site clinic that provides health and wellbeing services for the local community in collaboration with the NHS.

Medical Engineering

As a Medical Engineer you’ll become a practitioner undertaking a hands-on role in the testing and introduction of new medical related equipment, addressing patient safety and safely disposing of old devices. As well as these activities you may be involved in modifying or constructing equipment. In this degree you will combine in-depth academic work with practical clinical and technological skills in a range of specialised healthcare settings.

Nuclear Medicine

Studying our Nuclear Medicine degree you will learn about using isotopes and various forms of radiation to diagnose and treat many diseases, including different types of cancers, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine and neurological disorders. Half your course will be taught at our Singleton Park campus and the other half will take place in healthcare settings so you can put your theoretical knowledge into practice.

Neurophysiology

Our Neurophysiology degree will give you a 360o understanding of the functioning of the nervous system and the conditions that affect it, such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and nerve and muscle dysfunction. As a neurophysiologist, you will frequently carry out investigations in dedicated environments or departments, such as intensive care settings and operating theatres, working with patients of all ages.

Radiotherapy Physics

A Radiotherapy Physics degree will give oyu the necessary skills and understanding to effectively use radiation in the treatment of cancer. We will prepare you for a career as a Radiotherapy Physicist or Radiotherapy Physics Technologist where you will work as part of a team to develop treatment plans for patientsand be responsible for the calibration and use of radiotherapy equipment.

Radiation Physics

Our Radiation Physics degree will give you a holistic understading of the laws and regulations around the clinical uses of radiation in medicine and the skills required to treat patients with x-rays, radioactive materials, lasers, and ultraviolet radiation in imaging patients, diagnosing and treating disease, and monitoring patients’ response to treatment.

Respiratory and Sleep Physiology

Studying Respiratory and Sleep Physiology will teach you the structure and functions of the respiratory system alongside the latest diagnostic and tehrapeutic techniques, allowing you to move into a rewarding career as a allied healthcare professional working alongside doctors and a variety of healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat people with respiratory disease and sleep-related breathing disorders.

Rehabilitation Engineering

Rehabilitation Engineering will prepare you for an exciting career as part of a rehabilitation team including prosthetics. You will gain a holistic understanding of the construction and testing of a range of both custom-made and standard assistive technolgies including wheelchairs, artificial limbs, robotic aids, and specialist seating. You will use mapping systems, goniometers, inclinometer, joystick controllers and programmers.
