Group Overview

We study microbial interactions in marine microenvironments. Our research focuses on the microalgal holobiont (microalgae and their microbiome) and the plastisphere (microbial communities associated with marine microplastic). We employ molecular tools, high-throughput screening, omics technologies and bioinformatics to understand the molecular mechanisms that form the basis for the ecological complexity of microbial communities. We ultimately aim to use this knowledge to identify novel, sustainable solutions for biotechnological applications. For more information see our website.
