Tree pests

What is IMPACT?

IMPACT – Integrated Management of forest Pests Addressing Climate Trends – is partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Ireland-Wales Programme (INTERREG Iva) and Forestry Commission Wales. It is led by Forest Research in Wales, Aberystwyth, with partners in the National University of Ireland, Maynooth and Swansea University.

IMPACT - is a research project assessing how changing climate will influence the damage to our trees and forests by pests, some already here and others potentially brought here through international trade.

This combination of events requires an integrated approach to predicting which pests are most likely to affect our trees and developing sustainable methods for detection and management.

IMPACT is working through a partnership that brings expertise in climate modelling, pest monitoring and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) using combinations of microbial control agents.

The IMPACT project ran from 1/12/09 to 30/06/15, within this time many publications, press releases and presentations were produced.
