The Council Joint Engagement Forum (CJEF), established in 2023, provides an opportunity for Trade Union representatives to raise issues with members of Council ahead of Council meetings. The Forum is not a decision-making body nor is it a negotiating body nor part of any formal collective bargaining machinery. The CJEF will enable lay members of the University Council to engage effectively with the Campus Trade Unions on all aspects of the Council's remit and responsibilities. It will also provide a forum to discuss key strategic issues affecting staff (such as information to be shared at Joint Consultative and Negotiating Committee (JCNC) with Campus Unions) to allow representatives to present the opinions of their members on such issues ahead of ay decisions being made by Council. The Forum should normally meet four times a year, whereby special meetings may be called by the Chair or at the request of the Trade Unions.
