Data Protection Complaints Procedure
Swansea University is committed to handling your personal data in a way that is fair, transparent, and in accordance with the law. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, this process outlines how you can make a complaint.
How to make a complaint
If you have a complaint about how your data has been handled, please submit the following Data Protection Complaint Form to dataprotection@swansea.ac.uk
What to expect
The Information Compliance Team will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days of receiving it. The acknowledgement will:
- Confirm we have received the complaint
- Explain what will happen next
- Let you know who is dealing with the complaint
- Give an indication of timescales
If you remain unhappy
If you are unhappy with the outcome of your complaint, you should email the Information Compliance Team (dataprotection@swansea.ac.uk). Your email should explain:
- What you are unhappy about
- If you require additional detail or clarification regarding the outcome
- If you want us to review the complaint decision
The Information Compliance Team will acknowledge your request and will aim to resolve it without undue delay.
If your request is for a review of a complaint decision, the Information Compliance Team will review the decision internally. You will then be informed of the review decision.
If you remain unhappy after receiving the review decision, you can submit a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (the ICO) via:
