About

Dr Feras Korkees is a Senior Lecturer in Materials Science and Engineering at Swansea University, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3).

His work combines materials science and engineering and advanced manufacturing to develop high performance, sustainable materials with enhanced mechanical, thermal and environmental performance. Through interdisciplinary research, he investigates the relationships between material composition, processing, microstructure and long-term performance to develop innovative solutions for industrial applications.

Dr Korkees has established strong collaborations with leading industrial partners and research organisations across the UK and internationally, supporting the development of advanced materials and manufacturing technologies for demanding engineering applications.

Alongside his research, Dr Korkees is committed to delivering high quality engineering education and supervising postgraduate researchers in advanced materials and manufacturing. He has secured competitive research funding, published extensively in leading international journals, and serves as an Editorial Board Member for peer-reviewed journals in the field of materials science.

I teach across a range of materials engineering topics, with particular interests in polymer engineering, composite materials, sustainable materials, materials characterisation, additive manufacturing, and engineering design. I enjoy creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages students to connect fundamental materials science with real-world engineering challenges and industrial applications.
