Course Overview

The MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering course enables you to refine specialist skills alongside pioneering research interests within Engineering. Your learning will reflect the modern demands of the electronics industry. 

This course offers you the opportunity to do  an additional year for an  Industry Placement or project, giving you valuable work experience and the opportunity to improve technical and interpersonal skills.

Your Electronic and Electrical Engineering Experience

Over the course of your studies, you will develop handson experience with industrystandard equipment, including tools such as the scanning tunnelling microscope for atomicscale probing and the HP4124 parameter analyser for testing power devices. You will also build a solid understanding of prototyping and production methods by working with advanced components and learning how to construct and evaluate models of modern manufacturing techniques. By the end of the programme, you will feel confident discussing, analysing and comparing product lifetime management solutions, and understanding how these approaches influence different engineering and technology sectors. 

You will learn in an excellent study environment with access to a 24hour onsite library, advanced laboratories, specialist equipment, dedicated postgraduate work rooms and a yearround programme of guest lectures from industry and research experts. These facilities and experiences are designed to support your learning, research and professional development throughout your studies. 

You will also be part of a vibrant and supportive student community. The Electrical and Electronic Engineering student society plays a key role in helping you connect with others on your course, offering opportunities to meet new people through regular events, field trips, technical workshops and social activities. These experiences help you build friendships, collaborate on ideas and broaden your understanding of the subject beyond the classroom.
