Leatherjackets
  • The Leatherjacket, Tipula paludosa is the larval stage of the crane fly. It feeds on the roots of a wide range of plants - cereals and grasses in particular. It is an economically important pest in pasture, meadows and turf grass in Europe and North America.
  • Typical symptoms of leatherjacket damage include premature needle drop in conifer saplings and yellow or brown patches in pasture or turf.
