My area of professional interest and qualification centres on public policy and protection, sociology, social policy and criminology. I completed a BSc in Criminology and Social Policy at Swansea University and an MSc in Social Research.
I am currently finishing my PhD but have been a lecturer since 2012 and am currently a County Councillor for the City and County of Swansea. I look forward to welcoming you to The College.

This module aims to help students to develop their academic English, communication, research, and critical reasoning skills to be successful undergraduate students. A subsidiary aim of this module is to ensure that students develop transferable skills that help them to take responsibility for their personal, academic and professional development.
The module provides students with the fundamental knowledge base and skills required at undergraduate level. The module aims to assist students in improving their academic performance in terms of writing and presenting by dedicating time to allow students to understand the importance of feedback and reflection in order to improve future performance.
Resilience is having the ability to deal with difficult situations in your personal and professional life. This is a skill that can be learned and developed with thoughts, actions, knowledge and a commitment to achieving your goals. Having the right tools and a willingness to succeed can lead to a positive, healthy, well balanced and stress-free life. This module aims to help students understand the importance of resilience and how to become resilient. Students will learn about the key components of resilience to ensure they have the tools needed to maintain good physical and mental well-being when faced with challenging situations.

It will examine the distinctive questions that subjects such as Sociology, Social Sciences and Social Policy ask about human society and some of the key concepts and tools we use in tackling those questions. The module also provides students with a foundation in the skills we use when writing and social issues.

It introduces students to how global processes can impact on human well-being; how international and national organisations respond to global welfare problems and why international and comparative perspectives are valuable in the study of people¿s welfare.

It prepares students for further study and subject-specific independent research in the second semester module `Research Project¿.

It builds on the semester one module `Living in the Social World¿ by providing students the opportunity to apply what they have learnt through conducting independent research on a discipline-specific topic within Humanities, Social and Life Sciences. Students will be guided through the process of conducting research through a series of lectures, seminars, workshops and individual supervision/support meetings.

It examines the theories and models of welfare states, the impact of globalisation, and the varied welfare challenges faced by different regions worldwide.
