How are you studying with The College at the moment (online or blended)? How are you finding this method of learning?     When I first started my course in 2019 before the pandemic, I felt welcomed by teachers and peer students from The College. During the pandemic I felt overwhelmed and pressured especially progressing on to my penultimate year of studies but the pre-recorded lectures on zoom via Canvas and swift email responses from lecturers made my studies possible. I believe University has made the correct decision for helping students to learn and adopt the changes during that period of time.

What is the best thing about your course?                                                                                                                                                   The mix of technology and education has made studies more interesting. Able to communicate with people via zoom for doing group work across the world with ease, especially in blend-in situations or online made learning and communications more productive.

What was your main worry about studying at The College before you started your course? Has this worry gone away now?            The main worry about studying at The College is the ability to meet new friends. The College has a lot of international students and especially from Hong Kong. I am able to blend in the cultural differences with other international students such as Malaysians. Outside of academics, I had the opportunity to participate in Public Relations for The Swansea Hong Kong Society 2020. Serving as a backbone behind the President, I had gradually become more talkative and voluble in front of peers and supporting freshers.

What do you hope to do once you have completed your studies?                                                                                                             After accomplishing my BEng in Civil Engineering with First Class Honors,  I will continue my study for MSc course in Civil Engineering at University College London UCL.

What one piece of advice would you give to a student considering coming to The College, Swansea University?                                Try and enjoy being a fresher. You will miss the good old days as you progress to years 2 and 3.
