About

Dr Yacoub Sleibi joined Swansea University in January 2025 as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Finance within the Accounting & Finance department at the School of Management. Yacoub is a fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds a PhD in Financial Economics from Newcastle University Business School. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Global Finance and Banking with Distinction from Bradford University School of Management, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Bethlehem University. He is currently researching various areas in the field of macro-finance and banking, including the endogeneity between finance and the real sector, the propagation of banking shocks across financial markets, and the co-movement of green energy stocks.

Yacoub serves as a Co-Editor for the Economics Journal at De Gruyter and acts as an ad hoc reviewer for multiple journals. He also presented his work in international conferences in the UK, Italy, France, and Greece.

Yacoub places strong emphasis on incorporating student input to enrich and strengthen the learning community. He is committed to advancing equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and actively promotes these values across the School of Management. In this capacity, Yacoub serves as a champion for Student Experience, Achievement, and Retention, supporting initiatives that foster student success and a positive academic community.

He previously held positions at Newcastle University, the University of Essex, and the University of Huddersfield, and taught postgraduate and undergraduate modules including financial theory, corporate finance, investment banking, and intermediate macroeconomics.
