Nameel Babu

First Class Honours graduate Nameel Babu has launched an apparel brand which promotes eco-friendliness and emphasizes group identity.

When Nameel Babu started his final year of undergraduate study at the School of Management he decided it was the right time to start putting the knowledge and skills he’d learned during his studies into setting up his own business. Always being passionate about starting something of his own he, alongside his best friend, created Hoodie Ink, a company which promotes group identity and produces innovative, unique, minimalistic hoodies with designs that are affordable, of great quality, eco-friendly and ethical.

Nameel’s journey started when he chose to study the BSc Economics and Finance degree at Swansea University’s School of Management. Nameel felt Swansea was the best fit for him, stating:

“I chose Swansea University primarily because of the importance the university places on a student’s overall development. The university promotes the balance between academics and extra-curricular activities.”

Being able to round out his studies with extra-curricular activities allowed Nameel to broaden his perspective and, as an avid participant in various student societies, he relished the opportunity to meet students from across the globe and embrace different group identities. This was a key catalyst in the development of Hoodie Ink.

Spearheading the finance division of the venture, Nameel utilised the financial knowledge he gained throughout his degree to ensure the success and growth of the business. Within the last six months Hoodie Ink has truly made its mark as the company has served hundreds of happy customers and is looking to expand globally into five different continents.

Graduating in July 2019 with a First Class Honours degree in Economics and Finance Nameel stated:

“My experience at Swansea University honed my skills and instilled global business acumen. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to do my undergrad!”
