Group Overview

Our Research Interests and Expertise

  • Expertise in the development of biological, chemical, electrical, optical, and mechanical sensors.
  • Develop novel sensors for a wide variety of applications, such as medical, environmental, internet of things (IoT), manufacturing, defence, agriculture, automotive and aviation etc.
  • Design and develop highly sensitive and selective sensors based on novel material systems, such as nanomaterials, metal oxides, MXenes, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) and organic-inorganic composite etc.
  • Develop scaling-up technologies to mass produce sensors at relatively low cost.
  • Application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in data analytics.

Our Research Activities include:

  • Printed nanobiosensors for low-cost, highly sensitive detection of human cytomegalovirus in newborn babies.
  • Broadband photodetectors for optical communication and biomedical applications.
  • Microneedles based wearable sensors for minimally invasive monitoring of chronic diseases.
  • Radio-frequency identification (RFID) based sensors for smart city, environment, health and security monitoring.
  • Metal oxide gas sensors for environment and health monitoring.
  • Chemical sensor based on organic-inorganic composite for food safety monitoring.
  • Low-cost electrochemical sensors upcycled from food waste for in-situ monitoring of emerging micropollutants in water.
  • MEMS sensors for biosensing applications.
