Mohammed's Experience
Why did you decide to study MSc Engineering Leadership and Management at Swansea University?
I liked the course modules and how it is designed to ensure up-to-date technical and management topics. For example, sustainable development, smart manufacturing, innovation management, and immersive systems are future trends that every engineer should be aware of for a better career future. On top of that, basic management principles such as economics, HR, Accounting, and finance; and the other type of management related to engineering such as operation, asset, and project management.
What was your favourite thing about your course?
Linking the modules assignments and course project to real business cases. That was very important because it enhances students working experience, confidence, and communication. Also, I value course mentors support along the course by bringing their expertise and share real-life examples.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about studying Engineering at Swansea University?
From my experience, the most critical factor is the environment, whether inside or outside the university. Comfort feeling helps you to perform well in your studies. Studying in Swansea is an enjoyable experience academically and socially.
Engineering Leadership and Management Employment Opportunities
Graduates of the Engineering Leadership and Management MSc at Swansea are strongly positioned for rewarding management opportunities in engineering and also other sectors.
"Students completing the course will get a head start on conventional graduates and we have seen this with several that have started in Tata getting ahead of the curve with career progression, gaining additional responsibility, and promotion ahead of their peers."
- Dean Cartwright, Chairman of the Industry Advisory Board, Tata Steel
"We kept in touch with some of our students into the early years of their careers to find out about their experiences and to get some insight into how they approach the challenges they face. Without exception, they all draw on the skills they developed on the ELM, particularly in team environments. Additionally, we have sought feedback from employers on how the ELM students perform when compared to their peers. The feedback is extremely positive, and the graduates post-ELM are described as being ahead of the curve in their career development and secure senior positions ahead of the remainder of the peer group."
