As the UK baked in a summer heatwave many headed for the beaches, something that is easy at the idyllic seaside location of Swansea University- it is after all a mere minute walk from Singleton Campus where the Law School is based! For 50 students, however, their destination was towards continuing education as they were selected for a variety of legal placements that were kindly offered by our solicitor and barrister partners across South Wales.

The time spent on placement was an opportunity for the students to learn about employers and the employers to meet the students, a chance to learn about what the practice of law actually looks like, and we are delighted that the feedback was so positive.
One student, on placement at a solicitor’s firm, said that “The solicitors at the firm were very friendly. All my questions were answered kindly. It gives a real insight into how your degree is applied.”
Another, who spent time with a local Chambers, said that “Overall, the experience significantly enhanced my understanding of the Bar and was particularly beneficial in preparing me for my placement year. It gave me valuable legal experience and helped me feel more confident and prepared before beginning my placement.”
At Swansea we are committed to the three-way partnership between the students, the University, and practitioners, and we are delighted that so many organisations were able to be so generous with their time. We look forward to continuing this with three separate placement windows in the 2026/2027 academic year.
