About The University

Swansea University is a research-led university that has been making a difference since 1920. The University community thrives on exploration and discovery and offers the right balance of excellent teaching and research, matched by an enviable quality of life.

Our stunning waterfront campuses and multicultural community make us a desirable workplace for colleagues from around the world. Our reward and benefits, and ways of working enable those who join us to have enriching careers, matched by an excellent work-life balance.

About The Role

The Research Contracts Officer will join Swansea University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) Service and play a key role in supporting the University’s research activity.

Working within the Contracts Team, you will help academics and professional services staff put in place the agreements needed to deliver projects with partners across the UK and internationally. This includes drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of research and commercial agreements, ensuring the University’s interests are protected while enabling collaborations to move forward.

You will work closely with academics, research support staff and external partners to agree contract terms covering areas such as intellectual property, publication rights, liability, payment terms and institutional risk. The post involves managing your own portfolio of agreements and providing clear advice to colleagues, so they understand contractual obligations and funder requirements.

The Contracts Team sits within Swansea University’s RKE Service, which brings together professional services colleagues who support research development, funding and delivery across the University’s three faculties. Staff work closely with faculty based RKE Hubs, providing specialist expertise while remaining embedded in the research environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of commercial contracts or legal drafting who wants to develop their expertise while working at the centre of a busy research-intensive university.
