About The Role
The Centre for Academic Success delivers a broad range of courses, individual appointments, and online content to enable students to fully engage with their academic studies and develop transferrable skills that will be applicable when they graduate.
Maths and Stats Student Advisors are recruited to assist in the delivery of one-to-one mathematics and statistics guidance to university students via a drop-in service on campus or virtually via pre-booked online appointments. You will also make students aware of our online resources and refer on to other services as appropriate. Our mathematics and statistics support is available to all students, irrespective of their current capabilities.
Current UG or PG student at Swansea University, studying Mathematics, statistics, or other degree with a high maths/stats content.
The Role
- Deliver maths and statistics learning support to a diverse range of students in the form of one-to-one support sessions.
- Inform students of the online learning resources on Canvas and offer guidance in using the materials.
- Utilise online resources in support sessions.
- Sensitively deal with wider student issues and sign-post students to appropriate support services on campus.
- Assist in the publicity of drop in sessions and online resources.
- Assist in the administration of registration and feedback documents.
- Ensure all University policies are implemented within the remit of this post. Full training will be given.
- Attend relevant meetings and training sessions.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the line-manager of their representative within the scope of the post.

Welsh Language Skills
The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
