Course Details
Supported by TWf, the course is jointly taught by 10 industrial leaders who have substantial experience and expertise as contractors and consultants. It provides a broad coverage of construction methods and temporary works related to infrastructure:
- Tunnelling, shafts and deep cuttings – by Roy Slocombe (Former Managing Director, Herrenknecht);
- Construction issues across civil engineering and in industrial contexts – by Rob Millard (Managing Director, DE-CS);
- Understanding soils, trenching, sheet piling and cofferdams – by Ray Filip (Editor of ICE TW textbooks);
- Geotechnical and slopes – by Tim Lohmann (Director, Keltbray);
- Bridge erection, jacking and heavy moves – by Ryan Dillon (Engineering Manager, BAM);
- Special considerations in specific operational sectors and situations – by Bill Hewlett (Former Director, Costain; Former Vice President, ICE);
- Marine – floating plant and equipment – by Paul Boddy (Technical Director, Richter);
- Marine – shore works – by Richard Fletcher (Regional Engineer, BAM);
- Working platform – by Stefano Quintavalle (Head of Temporary Works, Skanska).
The course is part of our full-time MSc programme for Construction Management. It is also available for external professional learners to take as a standalone CPD module. The CPD learners will have full access of the module contents in the same way as the fulltime students.
