About

Welcome students and I hope you enjoy your study at Swansea University. I hope that you will find it challenging and rewarding. My name is Beti Williams and I am a lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics here at The College. I graduated from Birmingham University with an honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Economics. This was followed by a higher degree in Statistics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and a PGCE, teaching qualification at the University of Swansea.

Mathematics is a strange subject isn’t it, some people love it and some people actually hate it. I am passionate about the subject and I hope that you too appreciate  the logic and enjoy the numerical algorithms. I began my teaching experience at the University of Swansea teaching Economics and Statistics and I have taught Mathematics and Statistics at Swansea College and at various schools in Swansea. I have also worked in industry as a statistician at GlaxoSmithKline and taught quality control at Walkers Crisps, Alcoa and Three M.

I have spent many years as an examiner for Statistics at the examining board Edexcel and since 2009 I have taught Mathematics and Statistics, initially at ICWS and now at the College. I also have a Mathematics Workshop to provide extra tuition on any analytical topic if needed. Please do feel free to contact me anytime.
