About
Jo holds an Honours degree in Physical Education and Educational Studies and a PhD in Developmental Sport Psychology, both from the University of Wales, Bangor and has taught in Higher Education for 20 years.
Jo is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a BASES Fellow and BPS Associate Fellow, a BPS Chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist with Health Care Professions Council Registration and holds BASES Accreditation for Research.
Research
Jo’s research has two key themes: (1) psychosocial aspects of physical activity and exercise in middle-aged and older adults, in particular, age-related stereotypes and identity, and, (2) reversal theory interpretations of well-being and exercise experiences.
