Why you need an occupational health check before starting your course

We must ensure that our students’ health status meets the requirements of our work placement providers. The Occupational Health screening process is an integral part of the application process with regard to Fitness to Practice.

To ensure we conform with the expectations of education service providers, all our students are expected to comply with relevant policies.

Please read the policies below before making your application to any courses that have work experience placements.

The Occupational Health Process

  1. Once you have been offered a place on your chosen course, you will be sent a health declaration form to complete.  You will need to complete the form, and then ask your GP to sign the form to confirm its accuracy.  Each offer of a place is conditional upon this form being returned in the given timeframe.
  2. Occupational Health staff will check the form, and may invite you in for an appointment to discuss the information that you have provided.

    During this appointment:
  • You will be assessed on your fitness to practice
  • You will have the opportunity to discuss any support that you may need with regards to your health
