Swansea University Law School is delighted to highlight the achievements of three of our graduating class of 2026 who have been awarded scholarships to assist them in their studies at the Bar as the next step in their journey towards being a barrister.
Abigail Edwards graduated from the Swansea University Law School with a first-class honours degree in Law. Abigail will be attending the Inns of Court College of Advocacy to study for the Bar in 2026/2027 and was awarded a £10,000 scholarship to assist her with this through the Inns of Court College of Advocacy Bursary Scheme supported by the Chancery Bar.
Abigail wrote that “For a first-generation student, this scholarship is more than an award it’s proof that dreams are worth pursuing, barriers are meant to be broken, and the future is shaped not by where you come from, but by where you’re determined to go.”
Charlotte Mathieu and Honee Crocker were both awarded £5,000 scholarships from the James Pantyfedwen Foundation to assist them with their studies on the Cardiff University Law School Bar Course. The Foundation supports postgraduate Master’s and PhD students from Wales, with particular emphasis placed on supporting Welsh students who choose to continue their studies at universities in Wales.
Charlotte graduated from the Swansea University Law School with a first-class honours degree in Law, ranking 6th overall in her class of 310.
Charlotte wrote that “I am delighted to have been awarded a £5,000 grant from the James Pantyfedwen Foundation towards the tuition fees for my Bar Training Course LLM at Cardiff University. I would really encourage other eligible students considering postgraduate study to look into the Foundation and apply. I had not initially realised that this funding opportunity was available, and receiving the grant will make a significant difference as I take the next step towards qualifying as a barrister.”
Honee graduated from the Swansea University Law School with a first-class honours degree in Law, ranking 2nd overall in her class of 310.
Honee said of her award that “I am delighted to have been awarded a scholarship from the James Pantyfedwen Foundation. This scholarship will make a significant difference in helping me pursue my dream of becoming a family law barrister. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank the staff at Swansea University for all of their support over the past three years. I would encourage any eligible student to apply – it is a fantastic opportunity that can make a real difference to your postgraduate studies.”
