Building on Swansea University's internationally recognised strengths in commercial and maritime law, the School of Law offers a specialist LLM in Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy Law.

The programme benefits from the support of leading industry partners, including long-standing collaborator Stephenson Harwood LLP, a leading international law firm with a globally recognised practice in energy, shipping, and finance.

As part of its continued commitment to nurturing future legal talent, Stephenson Harwood sponsors two prestigious annual awards for outstanding students: the Stephenson Harwood Offshore Energy Internship Prize and the Stephenson Harwood Star Pupil Internship Prize. Both awards include the opportunity to undertake an internship with the firm, providing recipients with invaluable experience at the forefront of international energy law.

This year's Stephenson Harwood Offshore Energy Internship Prize was awarded to Viktoria Spinerova, who holds an LLB from Swansea University and currently serves as President of the University's STAR Society. The Stephenson Harwood Star Pupil Internship Prize was awarded to Varvara Kazantzi, who holds both LLB and LLM degrees from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Before joining Swansea's LLM programme, Varvara gained two years of legal practice experience in Greece.

The awards were presented by Cathal Leigh-Doyle, Partner at Stephenson Harwood LLP, during a ceremony attended by Nick Morgan, Managing Associate at the firm, Jake Saville, Trainee Solicitor, and Professor George Leloudas from Swansea University's Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law.

Following the ceremony, Professor Leloudas said:

"The award ceremony was a wonderful celebration of what makes our LLM programme at Swansea so distinctive. Seeing Viktoria and Varvara recognised by a world-leading firm such as Stephenson Harwood is a testament to their talent, dedication, and hard work, as well as to the quality of our students and the practical focus of our programme. We are immensely proud of both of them and sincerely grateful to Cathal and the entire team at Stephenson Harwood for their enduring partnership. Their continued support provides our students with exceptional opportunities to launch successful international careers in the energy sector."

The partnership between Swansea University and Stephenson Harwood LLP continues to create outstanding opportunities for aspiring energy lawyers, combining academic excellence with meaningful professional experience and strengthening the University's links with one of the world's leading international law firms.
