The new edition of Sweet & Maxwell’s classic Marsden & Gault on Collisions at Sea has just come out, courtesy of Professor Andrew Tettenborn of the Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law (IISTL) and and John Kimbell QC of Quadrant Chambers.

The launch was celebrated on 9 June at a joint virtual event organised by both institutions, with over fifty shipping lawyers and attendees remotely present.

Speeches from Sir Nigel Teare (until very recently the Admiralty Judge) and Professor Soyer (Director of the IISTL) were followed by an animated question and answer session, a toast to the book, and further lively conversations in virtual groups.

Both editors were warmly congratulated on bringing out a well-structured and up-to-date version of the 141-year-old classic, which remains a leading, and highly-cited, text throughout the common law world. This is the second book published by an IISTL member in 2021 with 2 more on the way.
