Dr Andrew Iwobi, a long-standing member of the Swansea LLM team, has been conferred with an Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award by the university, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the student learning experience.

Dr Iwobi was presented with this highly coveted award by Professor Martin Stringer, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) at the Swansea Academy of Learning and Teaching Annual Conference.

Dr Iwobi teaches across a range of LLM modules (E-commerce and Electronic Payments, Oil and Gas: Contracts and Liabilities, Ship and Other mobile Asset Finance) and was nominated for this award by a substantial cross-section of his students. In support of their nominations, the students commented that Dr Iwobi is: 

  • "An excellent lecturer who takes pride in his delivery and genuinely cares about his students"
  • "Always on time for class, well prepared and ready to engage us in lively yet commercially relevant discussions“
  • "A very patient, kind person and enjoys sharing his knowledge with students, which means that is easier to understand.“, and that
  • “His lectures are cutting edge and very engaging. His teaching is also easy to understand, and he guides us to think and ask inspiring questions in class“

Commenting after the award ceremony, Dr Iwobi said:

“It is a great honour and privilege to receive this mark of excellence from the university and I am grateful to the students for the nomination. The quality of our LLM programmes is second to none and I am delighted to join the ranks of other colleagues on the LLM teaching team like Professor Tettenborn and Dr Leloudas, who have been similarly recognised by the University in the past.”
