About The Role

Contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by undertaking a range of teaching, assessment, administrative and supervision duties on the Summer Pre-sessional Programme, as requested by the co-ordinator, in order to contribute to learning and teaching objectives of the Department of English Language Training Services (ELTS)

Main duties and responsibilities expected of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutors are:

 

  • Tutors on full-time contracts are expected to teach up to 18 hours per week.

 

  • ELTS teaching staff have a collective responsibility to cover teaching and marking loads for colleagues on sick leave.

 

  • Assist with preparation of suitable material for all classes

 

  • Assist with administrative duties as required in maintaining detailed records of attendance and work completed in each class.

 

  • Liaise with other tutors over shared classes

 

  • Conduct regular tutorials with students and report any problems to the Course Co-ordinator

 

  • Carry out course administration within required timescales ensuring effective communication of information, in particular assessment requirements and criteria and timely and constructive feedback on assessments

 

  • Ensure an inclusive and evidence-based approach to facilitating learning in a range of face to face and potentially online delivery formats such as tutorials, lectures, problem based learning, that promotes student participation and learning outcome attainment.

 

  • Make effective use of learning technologies to support and enhance course delivery, course organisation, feedback and assessment. This may involve blended and/or online provision

 

  • Attend team meetings as required

 

  • Attend all student trips and excursions.

 

  • Contribute to the overall development of the programme and department through feedback

Additional Information

The contract dates are inclusive of a 2-day fully paid induction programme which will provide guidance and support for the course materials and assessment. This induction is compulsory and forms part of the offered contract. We need tutors to be available for the whole programme and you will be able to take your accrued holiday after the end of the course.
