Once you have arrived safely at Swansea University, you should follow the steps below to ensure you're able to study, live and stay healthy in the UK for the duration of your stay here. Here you'll find some useful information on the next steps you should complete when you first arrive at the university.
Steps to take in Swansea

Enrolment and BRP Collection
Once you arrive at Swansea University you will need to enrol onto your course and collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card.
Detailed enrolment information can be found here: www.swansea.ac.uk/enrolment/
When you arrive at Swansea University, if necessary, you will need to collect your BRP card within 10 days of arriving in the UK. During the main enrolment events in September/October you will be able to pick up your BRP card from the enrolment venue itself. At other times of the year you will need to collect the BRP card from the University’s MyUniHub on either Singleton Park Campus or Bay Campus – you should check your BRP collection letter to see where you selected the BRP to be delivered to. If you didn’t use Swansea University’s alternative location code (ACL), your BRP will be delivered for collection at a Swansea Post Office instead.
On collection of your BRP card, you must check to ensure the details are correct and accurate. If you notice any error on your BRP (with the exception of your full name not fitting on the card) you must visit the International@CampusLife team who will advise on the process for correction during drop-in times.
What if I lose or damage my BRP Card?
You must apply for a replacement BRP card as soon as possible. You must apply for a replacement BRP within three months of notifying the UKVI by email. Important: If you fail to apply for a replacement BRP within three months of losing the card, you may be issued a civil penalty of up to £1,000 and be made to leave the UK.
1. You will need to report this to the UKVI. Follow the instructions from the UKVI website.
2. Download and complete Form BRP(RC) from the UKVI website and include the documents listed in the form. The fee is listed on the form. The form must be completed in black ink and CAPITAL LETTERS.
3. Please use our sample form for guidance -
4. Once you have done all the above, make an appointment with the Advisers at International@CampusLife who will check your application and send it off for you.
See our leaflet for full details -

Register with a Doctor
Being registered with a doctor (GP) in the UK is important as it means you can access their services in the event that you fall ill or need help.
Soon after you arrive in Swansea, be sure to register with a doctor at a local medical centre– do not wait until you are unwell! You can register with a doctor at the University Health Centre or with one closer to your accommodation.
To register, you will need to visit the doctor’s surgery or clinic during consulting hours, taking a letter which proves that you are a student, along with your passport and visa/BRP card. You will later receive a registration letter by post with your NHS number. Please be aware that being registered with a doctor/having an NHS number, does not give you automatic entitlement to free hospital treatment. Check your entitlement to free NHS treatment and find more information on the healthcare in the UK by visiting the UKCISA webpages.
More information about healthcare in the UK can be found in our International Information Booklet (link)
Open a Bank Account
