Adult Nursing students at Swansea University

The Department of Nursing is a progressive, dynamic and aspirational part of the School of Health and Social Care and Swansea University. Our goal is to provide the highest quality national and internationally recognised nursing education, research, and innovation.

The Department is dedicated to the delivery of outstanding, evidence based education for those starting on their nursing journey by undertaking a pre-registration nursing degree leading to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, as well as qualified nurses wishing to undertake continuing professional development courses, master’s degrees and doctoral programmes. We have a national reputation for our expertise in developing advanced, specialist and clinical nurses.

We have a close working relationship with our local NHS providers and service users and educate nurses to meet the needs of a west Wales population of just fewer than one million people – a third of the population of Wales. The Department is responsive to changing demands within healthcare and we are actively engaged in exciting and ground breaking service developments in the region.

We are passionate about nursing and fully embrace the core values associated with the ‘caring profession’ and endeavour to instil these values into our students. We believe that nurses and nursing are essential to the future of health care in Wales and are proud to be instrumental the education of future nurses.
