International Nursing Applicants

• ALevel equivalent: BBB
• International Baccalaureate or equivalent: 30-32 to include HL4 or SL5 for English Language and Mathematics in a Health or science related course is desireable. To check our equivalent qualifications please visit our International Student pages for more guidance.
• IELTS or equivalent: 7.0 overall score, and a minimum of 7.0 in Speaking, Listening and Reading and minimum of 6.5 in Writing.*

Candidates with a 6.5 overall, and a minimum of 6.5 in all individual components may be invited to interview but must achieve the 7.0 entry requirement prior to enrolment.

On receiving an offer, aside to meeting all academic requirements you will also need to provide the following:

• Police Check/DBS Equivalent: Successful candidates will be required to provide an acceptable good conduct police reference (equivalent or alternative to DBS), completed and submitted within no more than six months of start date.**

• Health Declaration: Successful candidates will be required to provide an Occupational health accepted declaration of good health, completed and submitted within no more than six months of  start date.**

The selection process will consist of an online panel interview with two registered nurses, at least one of which will be an admission tutor.

The aim of the selection process is to ascertain your:

• compatibility to healthcare values
• awareness of your chosen programme and its demands
• verbal and non-verbal communication skills
• motivation for a career in nursing
• awareness of current issues in health

This is an opportunity for us to find out about you and for you to find out about us. During the selection process, you will be given the chance to ask any questions you may have. 

If you have any special needs for the interview then you may wish to inform the School as soon as possible prior to your date in order that appropriate arrangements can be made. We are happy to support any reasonable request but may find this difficult to accommodate on the day without prior notice.

The professional body for nursing (Nursing and Midwifery Council) require that every student has been assessed as suitable for nursing before they commence their education. 

At Swansea we have moved to a system that assesses your attitude and behaviour towards people and healthcare. Our assessments therefore will include these values and you are expected to demonstrate a positive attitude towards healthcare and behave in a way that identifies your caring nature towards others.  

Successful candidates will be required to accept their offer within 28 days of receiving their offer as stated in the offer letter.  For those applying through UCAS – please follow the deadline as advised by UCAS.

International students applying for a Student Route Visa (previously known as Tier 4 Visas) will need a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) number.  This number confirms to UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) that you have been accepted to study at a valid UK University.

To request a CAS statement, you will need to pay a deposit of £4,000, have met all conditions on your offer and have accepted an unconditional offer.  You will also need to complete a Previous Study Questionnaire.

Enrolment

All students must arrive in person and be ready to commence the programme by the start date.

In order to enrol students will need to pay the first installment (at least 50% of the first year tuition fee plus the clinical practice fee) before, or at enrolment. Further information on how to pay your fees can be found here.

Tuition Fees

Fees for full-time Undergraduate EU/International students will increase by 3% for each subsequent year of study.

Successful students are awarded UK Nursing (Adult) BSc from Swansea University, which is regulated and accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. This will allow you to practice as a Nurse in the UK, although we cannot guarantee you a job in the UK. 

All applicants are advised to ensure that Swansea University's Nursing (Adult) BSc Degree is recognised by the medical/nursing standards authority of the country in which they wish to practise.
