HKU campus/Campws HKU

HKU has gained international recognition for its accomplishments as a research-led comprehensive university. HKU attracts the best local students, along with many Mainland China and international students. The University’s academics have outstanding achievements in teaching and research, and about half of HKU’s faculty are from overseas. HKU has been actively establishing strategic international alliances with universities and research institutions worldwide. The University is also committed to cultivating internationalism on campus and to supporting staff and student mobility projects and international programmes at all levels.

It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Important Considerations

  • You will be required to complete an online visa application and send hard copies of application documents to the designated visa office after receiving instructions from HKU. It will take at least 10 weeks to process student’s visa application and the visa application fee is non-refundable. For general visa application procedures, please refer to https://www.studentvisa.hku.hk/
  • Accommodation is limited. HKU recommends applying as early as possible. Most of the rooms are double room. Only St. John’s College, Ricci Hall and HKU Residential Colleges provide very limited single rooms. Some halls have compulsory meal plans, others do not (see link for details). For those residents whose halls do not provide compulsory meal plans, they can have meals on campus.
  • HKU advises that all students are expected to arrive in Hong Kong around one week before the start of the semester to complete student registration procedures.
  • Orientation takes place one week before the semester starts.
