Wilfrid Laurier University is located in Ontario, Canada. Exchange students have the option to study at either the Waterloo campus or the Brantford campus. The Waterloo campus is the largest, and is home to the Faculties of Arts, Science, Music and the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics. The Brantford campus offers programs in Liberal Arts, Human and Social Sciences, and Business & Economics. Both campuses are within easy reach of Toronto, Niagara Falls, Stratford and the beautiful Great Lakes, making them excellent locations for exploring Canada during weekends and study breaks.
Wilfrid Laurier’s varsity team, the Golden Hawks, as well as the university’s close-knit community, dedicated and engaging professors and diverse extracurricular activities all contribute to a wonderful, vibrant campus spirit. As an exchange student, you will experience Canada's four seasons, from warm autumn days and snowy winters to beautiful spring blooms and sunny summers, making each semester a unique experience. On Campus accommodation is available for exchange students.
It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ACADEMIC YEAR: September to December (Fall / First Semester) and January to April (Winter / Second Semester)
COSTS: The cost of living while studying at Wilfrid Laurier will vary depending on your chosen accommodation and your lifestyle. You may be responsible for paying additional student fees during your studies.
VISA: You will need a Study Permit and will be required to provide financial evidence of at least CAN$22,895 (subject to change). The Study Permit application fee is approx. CAN$150. Your host university will provide you with more information about the application process. You must allow enough time to complete the study permit application and for your study permit to be processed and sent to you. There can be significant delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to Canada without it. More information is available via our visa and study permit webpage.
ACCOMMODATION: The Department of Residence has a limited supply of rooms in university residences available for exchange students. Demand for rooms is much greater than supply, particularly for students studying in the fall semester. Residence is designed to meet the needs of first-year students and includes a mandatory meal plan, so many exchange students prefer to seek off-campus housing, which is available through private rentals. An off-campus option that is popular with exchange students are the Ezra-Bricker apartments in Waterloo. Information about both options is sent to students once they have been accepted to study at Laurier.
HEALTH INSURANCE: You will be required to take out the mandatory health cover. The Universal Health Insurance Plan is a mandatory charge for all students and a student is automatically enrolled prior to arrival. UHIP provides coverage for basic medical services and treatments a student might need to maintain good health while living in Canada.
